Choosing the colors you’ll use for your wedding is a big decision! You’ll base your decor, bridal party, flowers, and much more around your color palette, so it’s important to pick something you not only love, but are happy with in every aspect of your wedding.
Consider Season
One of the first things to consider when looking at wedding colors is the season. The time of year could affect what will look best; if you know a specific flower will be in bloom, if there’s a high chance of snow, or if fall foliage will be at its peak, you’ll want to take that into account. For outdoor weddings especially, the seasonal backdrop affects your colors!
Consider Venue
Think about how your colors will look against your venue. If you’ve selected a venue that’s already got bold colors (think: unique colored carpet, bright wallpapers, stained glass, etc.), consider those aspects of the venue when choosing your colors, so that you don’t have major clashing colors in your photos.
Look at What You’re Already Drawn To
Unsure where to start? Take a look in your closet and around your house: what colors are you already drawn to? If you notice that you consistently choose a certain color in your furniture or clothes, you already know you’ll love the color for years to come, so it’s a great choice to incorporate it into your wedding.
Trends
One thing to be careful about is trends. Selecting a color that’s a big trend in bridal is understandable, but be sure you’re choosing the trendy color because you genuinely love it, and not because it’s trendy. You don’t want to look back in 20 years and regret your wedding colors!
